Citizenship

In order to become a Canadian Citizen, applicants must first immigrate to Canada as a permanent resident.  Canadian permanent residents must have lived in Canada for at least three (3) years before applying for Canadian citizenship, and like all Canadian immigration programs, meet specific requirements to be eligible to apply.

Permanent residents are able to enjoy many of the same benefits as those with Canadian citizenship status, including access to publicly funded healthcare and education, living and working in any Canadian province or territory, having bank account, run your international business, and protection under the Canadian law and by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.  However, there are a few key benefits for which only Canadian Citizens are permitted.  These include the ability to vote, travel freely to 152 countries,  pass on citizenship status to children
