Parent Sponsorship
The Canadian government’s Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) is a cornerstone of family reunification efforts, allowing Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents. During designated intake periods, potential sponsors must submit an interest-to-sponsor form and may be selected through a random draw. Selected sponsors are then invited to submit a complete sponsorship application.
Sponsors must fulfill certain criteria, including a commitment to financially support their parents or grandparents for a specific period once they become permanent residents. The sponsored individuals are required to pass medical examinations and security checks. Once approved, they can gain permanent residency in Canada and may later apply for Canadian citizenship.
