Spousal Sponsorship
A Canadian citizen or permanent resident may be able to sponsor their spouse, conjugal partner, or common-law partner if they fulfill the requirements stated by IRCC such as:
- they are 18 years of age or older,
- live in Canada or
- have plan to come back once their partner or spouse is granted permanent residency status in Canada.
Sponsorship applications, including those for spousal sponsorship, typically take about 12 or more months to process. Spouses, conjugal partners, or common-law partners can also include any dependent children on their permanent residence application.
